Iridium
Iridium is second densest element among the platinum group metals and the most corrosion resistant. Iridium is extremely hard, more than 4 times that of platinum itself. Iridium's high melting point, temperature stability and corrosion resistance makes it ideal for a number of industrial applications. Thanks to its biological compatibility, iridium is used in a range of medical and surgical applications. Iridium is the rarest of the PGMs.
